Why is Yoda the Master of Jedi Masters?

Why is Yoda the Master of Jedi Masters?

In the vast universe of Star Wars, no character can match Master Yoda in carrying such profound wisdom and power within his diminutive frame. This 900-year-old Jedi Master, with his green skin, large ears, and perpetually narrowed eyes, holds the deepest understanding of the Force - "Fear leads to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." And the iconic green lightsaber in his hand is not only a weapon against the Sith but also a concrete symbol of the Jedi spirit.

The Origin of Yoda

Yoda was born around 896 BBY. Due to the passage of time, it is difficult to verify his race, place of birth, and early experiences. It is only known that he met a mysterious Jedi Master and was taken as an apprentice when he was about a hundred years old or younger. After that, he returned to Coruscant for training and became a Jedi Knight.

And later, he trained many Jedi Knights, including Count Dooku, Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi (before Qui-Gon Jinn took over), and Ki-Adi-Mundi. He was also responsible for training the young Jedi Younglings in the Jedi Temple.

Yoda was one of the most senior and respected members of the Jedi Order. His life almost witnessed the rise and fall of the Jedi Order, and he participated in the training of almost every Jedi Master in the galaxy. His wisdom, patience and indomitable character were deeply respected and loved by the Jedi Knights.

And because of his experience, wisdom and insight, he became the leader of the Jedi Order - the highly respected Jedi Grand Master. To understand the Force, he had traveled throughout the galaxy and visited hundreds of worlds.

Important scenes involving Yoda

These scenes have special significance, chronicling the beginnings of Skywalker, the Jedi's involvement in the Sith's machinations, the Jedi's fall from grace twist, and the legacy from the Skywalker

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

After Qui-Gon Jinn discovered the legendary "Chosen One" on Tatooine, he brought Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Jedi Council to report the appearance of the Sith and to indicate that Anakin Skywalker was the "Chosen One" who would balance the Force. The Jedi Council decided to meet Anakin first.

When Yoda met Anakin in person, he felt that Anakin was overly obsessed with and fearful of his mother. Yoda also saw that Anakin's future was shrouded in mystery, which greatly worried him. He said directly, "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." Finally, the Jedi Council refused Anakin's application to become a Jedi Padawan on the grounds that he was too old. Moreover, Qui-Gon Jinn could not take on two apprentices at once. Obi-Wan, in order to fulfill Qui-Gon Jinn's wish, declared that he had completed his training as a Jedi Knight and only needed to pass the final test of the Council. However, the Council still did not agree.

At the second meeting, due to the death of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Council tacitly agreed that Anakin would become Obi-Wan's apprentice.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

After Count Dooku's secession plan was reported to the Council by Obi-Wan, the entire Jedi Order was involved in this battle.

When Obi-Wan and Anakin were captured by Count Dooku and sentenced to death, Yoda led the clone army to the rescue, officially starting the Clone Wars. Wielding his green lightsaber, he charged into the arena and moved through the droid army with the Ataru style, destroying dozens of battle droids single-handedly, demonstrating the peak of "softness overcoming hardness" combat power. Later, he commanded the clone army against the Separatist fleet and became the spiritual pillar of the Republic forces.

"Revenge of the Sith": The Climactic Confrontation with the Sith Lord

After Order 66 was carried out, the Jedi were almost wiped out. When Yoda returned to the Temple, he witnessed the corpses everywhere and, in his rage, rushed straight to Palpatine's office. He engaged in a lightsaber duel with Sidious, and the clash of green and red blades illuminated the Chancellor's office - this was a direct confrontation between the Jedi leader and the Sith Lord, and the last stand of the Jedi Order against the Sith conspiracy. Although Yoda eventually retreated due to exhaustion, he exposed Palpatine's identity as a Sith to the public, thus reversing the roles of the Jedi and the Sith.

Obi-Wan, to evade the Empire's pursuit and protect Luke, lived incognito on Tatooine. Yoda, realizing that the Sith's plan was unstoppable, also went into seclusion on Dagobah.

The Empire Strikes Back: Training and Enlightenment on Dagobah

Yoda tested Luke under the guise of a "crazy hermit" in the Dagobah swamp and then began systematic training.

Many years later, Luke Skywalker, the son of Anakin, came to the planet Dagobah to seek Jedi training from Yoda. When they first met, Yoda did not reveal that he was a Jedi Master. Instead, he tried to understand Luke's character and found that the young Rebel warrior was impatient and quick-tempered - very much like his father. At Obi-Wan's urging, Yoda agreed to instruct Luke, teaching him to stay calm and develop his Jedi abilities. However, the student remained rash. He left Dagobah before completing his training to confront Darth Vader. Luke was unprepared; he was soundly defeated by the Sith Lord, who also claimed to be his father.

"Return of the Jedi": The Truth at the End of Life and the Continuation of Spirit

The elderly Yoda informed Luke on Dagobah that "Leia is his twin sister" and emphasized that "there is still hope for your father's redemption". He passed away peacefully at the age of 900, confirming before his death that "Luke is now a true Jedi". Later, he appeared as a Force ghost after the Battle of Endor, along with the ghosts of Obi-Wan and Anakin, to witness the fall of the Galactic Empire - this marked his spirit transcending life and death, becoming a symbol of the Jedi legacy.

Characteristics of the Lightsaber

Yoda's Green Lightsaber

Yoda's lightsaber is one of the most recognizable weapons in Star Wars. Compared to other Jedi's lightsabers, its hilt is shorter (about 24 centimeters), fitting Yoda's small stature and allowing him to wield it nimbly in high-speed battles. The hilt is simply designed, mainly in metallic silver, with dark anti-slip bands wrapped around it and a small energy adjustment knob at the end - this is the result of Yoda's own forging, incorporating his understanding of the Force's principle of "softness overcomes hardness".

The blade of the lightsaber is the classic green color. In the Star Wars universe, green lightsabers are typically associated with "harmonious users of the Force", symbolizing wisdom, growth, and the balance of nature, which aligns with Yoda's philosophy of "finding strength in peace". This lightsaber accompanied him through the bloodshed of the Clone Wars, clashing fiercely with Darth Sidious' red lightsaber in "Revenge of the Sith"; it also guided Luke Skywalker in the swamps of Dagobah in "The Empire Strikes Back", breaking the world's prejudice against power with the idea that "size matters not".

The wisdom of Yoda and the spirit of the lightsaber have been passed down through generations of disciples and allies. Their lightsabers may vary in color and design, but they all carry the commitment to justice - ANASABER has also recorded the stories behind these weapons in words.

Luke's blue lightsaber

After the Clone Wars ended, Obi-Wan's green lightsaber and Anakin's blue lightsaber both vanished - until the return of crisis. In Episode IV: A New Hope, the droid carrying Leia's distress message arrived on Tatooine, along with the threat of the Empire. At this time, Obi-Wan, under his assumed identity, passed the lightsaber that belonged to Luke's father to Luke. For Luke, the lightsaber was not merely a weapon. It connected him to his father whom he had never met and symbolized the Jedi path he was about to embark on - as well as a new chapter for the Skywalker family.

Ahsoka's white lightsaber

In the animated series "The Clone Wars", Ahsoka's impulsive tactical style led her to violate the Jedi Code on multiple occasions (such as acting on her own to rescue civilians), and there were even proposals within the Jedi Council to expel her from the Temple. At this point, Yoda proposed: "The rules are to protect the Force, not to bind it. This girl's fire might just be the light we need." He did not directly interfere with Ahsoka's training but secretly supported Anakin in teaching her in a "non-traditional way" - this kind of tolerance stemmed from Yoda's understanding that "Jedi should not have only one form."

It was not until Ahsoka grasped the purifying power within the Force that a Kyber crystal, once tainted red by Sith rituals, was cleansed to white in her hands. The lightsaber with a white Kyber crystal thus became Ahsoka's new weapon.

Why is Yoda different from other Jedi Masters?

Yoda stands out among the Jedi Masters in "Star Wars" not only because his 900-year lifespan spanned the rise and fall of the Galactic Republic, but also due to his understanding of the Force, his dedication to the Jedi mission, and the "anti-doctrinaire" wisdom he demonstrated at critical moments. His uniqueness is reflected in:

Early practice: During the Clone Wars, although he fought as a Jedi General, he was always wary of "the distortion of the Force by war". In the "The Clone Wars" animation, he once told his disciple, "The Force is not a weapon, but a bond of life - we use it, not possess it." This subtly differed from the other masters' approach of "using the Force to fight against the dark side".

When Ahsoka was expelled from the Jedi Order due to false accusations, other masters regarded her as a "traitor", but Yoda said, "Leaving the temple does not mean leaving the Force." He recognized that Ahsoka "practiced justice in her own way", and this acceptance of a "non-traditional Jedi" was extremely rare in the rigid Jedi Order.

The Awakening in Old Age: After Order 66, Yoda reflected on the failure of the Jedi in the Dagobah swamp and ultimately realized that the rigidity of the Jedi stemmed precisely from "the fear of the dark side" - this fear itself was a trap of the dark side. In "Rise of the Resistance", he warned Ezra: "Light and dark coexist in the Force, just as breathing has both inhalation and exhalation." This "balance theory" completely shattered the traditional Jedi's binary opposition thinking.

Yoda's understanding of the Force was deeper than that of any other Jedi Master. For a long time, he was always like a spiritual leader until the awakening of the common people and the emergence of the Rebel Alliance.

Why is Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber different from other lightsabers?

In Star Wars, there are always some lightsabers that leave a deep impression on people. For instance, Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber gave the audience quite a shock when it first appeared. There is also Mace Windu's purple lightsaber that was lost in the battle against Palpatine, and Kylo Ren's unstable crossguard lightsaber. However, Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber is unique because it carries the transformation and rebirth of generation after generation of its users.

Its elegant design is not only visually appealing; every time you hold it, you can feel a resonance with the classics. For collectors, it is a "Star Wars totem" on the display shelf; for dueling enthusiasts, it allows you to regain the passion and power from the movies with every swing. Such an existence, who could resist adding it to their collection?
